Dishwasher Detergent

Making homemade laundry detergent got me thinking about what else I can make myself. I figured homemade dishwasher detergent couldn't be too hard. So I of course googled and found DIY Natural. It included two of the ingredients from the laundry detergent, and it was super simple.

1 cup of Borax
1 cup of Washing soda
1/2 cup of Kosher salt
1/2 cup of Citric Acid (I ordered this online)

Just measure and pour all of these items into a container and shake shake shake.

Then find a cute little helper to spoon the detergent into your soup dispensers. You gotta start them on chores young ya know ;)

I have used it a couple of times and no complaints. DIY Natural also suggested using vinegar as a rinse agent. I haven't tried it yet, but I am slowly learning the power and millions of uses of vinegar.

BA Farmers Market

This weekend we tried out our local farmers market. It was a pretty small event, but we did get a few goodies. Next time we might try the one on cherry street.

Addy was talking up a storm.

Tomatoes, Onions, Peaches and a Cantaloupe

And here is what I made with our treasures....

Sisters and Aunts

My sisters and I are extremely close. I was the first one to become a mom, so when we found out Lisa was pregnant I was super excited. Now that Charlotte is here I am even more excited, even emotional (which is weird for me). It is so awesome to watch my sister become a mom.

This Saturday Jenny, Lisa, and I sat in Charlotte's nursery taking turns rocking and holding Charlotte and just talking. In that moment I felt so lucky to have such wonderful girls as my sisters. Yeah we can fight like the best of them, but we are also there for each other no matter what. Thanks girls for being amazing aunts to Addison, and thanks Lisa for providing us a new baby to snuggle.

Another Goal Accomplished...

You may remember that for this year I decided on goals as opposed to a resolution. I have already accomplished one goal, homemade laundry detergent. Well, now Tim and I also have no car debt, and it feels amazing. Back in April while I was working I started listening to Dave Ramsey. Basically he has 7 baby steps that help you get out of debt and be able to retire with money in the bank. It got me started thinking, what do we have to show for how we have spent our money in the last few years as a married couple. Let me tell you not much. I finally convinced Tim to take a look at our finances with me and to try to establish a budget. We figured out we were spending waaaaaay too much on junk. We stopped eating out quite so often and started using cash instead of credit cards. The big (you guys are crazy) move was to cancel our cable. We have found a little TV with some rabbit ears and the internet. At first it really sucked and still isn't always fun, but now we are used to it and frankly don't have much time for TV anyway. All that to say that we have determined our wants and needs and found a way to pay off not one but both of our vehicles. Yay!!!

Conversations in the Car

On the way to, but mostly from Stacy's everyday is when Addy and I just sit and chat. I mean what else are you going to do stuck in a car seat. These little chats include us practicing all of the names in our family, friends, and pets. We also practice colors and have started pointing at trees, cars, and stop lights. It is so fun to get to see her expand her vocabulary. However, of all of our conversations, this is my most favorite....

Addy: Mommy?
Me: What?
Addy: I love you.
Me: I love you too.

Now this conversation will repeat 3 to 4 times. Each time getting louder and with more enthusiasm. I just love my mommy job!

Berry Pickin'

Early one Saturday morning we decided to head to a nearby berry farm to pick some fresh fruit. The plan was to pick blackberries and make a cobbler, but we ended up with blueberries instead. The blackberries were still red. We were about a week too early.

Addy hitched a ride on Daddy. The blackberries we were there to pick were on the back of the farm.

It was quiet a hike.

No blackberries, so blueberries it is.

Windy!

Of course you have to eat as you pick!

At one point we let Addy just go for it and pick on her own

Here is what she picked.....multch.

Time to head back with some berries in tow.

Despite the heat and crazy wind, it was a fun experience that we plan on making it a summer tradition.

Hello..Goodbye...

We had a very exciting weekend. Friday at 9:23 p.m. my beautiful niece Charlotte Kate was born (7 lbs. 13 oz. & 21 inches long).

Then Saturday evening we celebrated our friends Thomas, Brook, and Briley starting on a new journey in Houston. We had our last "Quad" party. It was so hot, so we felt a pool party would be appropriate. We will miss the Scott's so much, but plan to visit soon.

Friends: Tulsa Drillers

A couple of weeks ago my work had a family Drillers Night out. Of course Madison and Addison had to call each other and plan what they were going to wear to such occasion. Since it was sooooo hot they decided matching rompers and jellies would work perfect!

Recap: 4th of July Weekend

Wow! What a weekend packed full of fun, family, friends, food and fireworks (lots of "f's"). We started off our July 4th weekend, going to the lake with our friends Jared, Erica, and Carson. It was so cute when little Carson called to invite us. Addy and Carson had such a good time together and we can't wait to go back.

Addy with her juice in a koozie. You have to have a koozie at the lake!

Awwwe!

Her first kiss!

Saturday night we went over to our friends Brian's and Kristi's house. Addison and MacKenna had a blast in the pool.

Sunday morning we went to church. Our church service was a patriotic musical which brought me to tears. It really made me realize how lucky we are as Americans to have the freedoms we have. Here is Addy ready to go. I know it isn't a red, white and blue dress, but it was cute anyway.

Sunday evening we spent the evening at another lake with my mom's family. Addy got to ride jet ski's. She went about 5 mph, and loved it!. I really think we have a water baby on our hands. When we went inside to eat she kept saying "water, water".

On Monday we went to my dad's house to enjoy more family, food and fun. Addison got to meet the newest little kitty. Most of the kittens at my dad's are wild. So when this one actually let her play with it, Addy was in heaven.

Of course at all of our destinations this weekend we watched fireworks, which little Addy was absolutely terrified of. At my dad's Tim let off a bottle rocket and Addy hit the deck. She got as flat on the ground as possible and started crying for me. When I went and picked her up, she was crying and tattling on her daddy. I felt bad for her, but it was kind of funny and cute all at the same time. Maybe next year it will be more fun for her.

My beautiful sisters!

We had such a fun weekend. We are so blessed to have so many amazing family and friends to share our lives with.
