Weekend Recap & Fall Festival

This past weekend we had another family weekend. I am really starting to LOVE these weekends. I used to be a go go go person, but I am learning to find the joy in just staying put. Tim would love it if we just laid around all weekend, but I don't think I am to that point yet. I have become quite content with just hanging out with us four and throwing in a fun activity or two. Anyway... back to the weekend recap. Friday night Tim had an away football game, so Aunt Jenny came over and we had a pizza and movie girls night. Saturday Tim and I went on a date!! A sweet girl from our church came over and watched the girls for a couple of hours while we went out to eat. It was nice to talk without getting interrupted every two minutes and we were able to sit and eat our dinner without having to speed through it. We had such a wonderful time we decided we have to have monthly date nights. Plus, it was Lilah's first evening at home with a non-family sitter. The sitter said Lilah did great and Addison loves her, so a win win on all sides. Finally, Sunday afternoon we went to our church's Fall Festival. First thing on the agenda was a pony ride. Then we went inside for crafts, games and lots of candy. Addison was a little shy at first because of all of the people but after she got a few games under her belt she was all about it. One of her favorite things at the festival was lemonade. I think she felt like a big girl with a real cup (no sippy). She filled that cup up a couple of times. LOL. So another fun weekend in the books. Loving these little family weekends! (Sorry about the poor quality. The lighting was pretty bad in the church gym.)

Weekend Recap (Part 2)

I have been late posting my last weekends shenanigans because I have been a busy bee back at work. I spent my first night away from my little Lilah this week when I had to travel for work. I missed my family tremendously; however I did love a full night of uninterrupted sleep. Anywho, back to last weekend... Saturday I woke up refreshed because everyone slept through the night, praise the lord. It was nice and brisk outside so after I fed Lilah and put her back to bed (she likes to sleep in til 10ish) I went outside and enjoyed a nice cup of coffee and a quilt. Later Addy joined me and I made her her own cup of hot cocoa she looked so grown up. Then she spent the morning playing outside in the "sandbox" and filling poor Ace's fur with sand.

After naps all around the weather warmed up to high 70's so we had snacks and pumpkin decorating on the deck.

Followed by a mini photo shoot of a cutie that can fit in a pumpkin.

And rounded out the evening with Addy showing Lilah just how fun the Wonder Pets can be.

It was just the most perfect weekend. We had so much fun just spending some quality time together. I think we need to plan a few more of these weekends in our near future because I know I will blink and these precious girls will be all grown up.

Weekend Recap (Part 1)

This past weekend was the perfect family togetherness we were needing. Tim was on fall break last week so we actually had the whole weekend together as a family, no football games on Friday or practice on Saturday. We spent the weekend hanging out just our little family of four. Friday night we decided to have a practice run of Halloween. We went to bass pro and trick or treated throughout the store. Addison had been at Gammy and Pops for the last few days and came home in a cowgirl outfit which transistioned nicely to trick or treating.
After gathering a few pieces of candy we went to a BBQ joint by our house. They have live music on Friday and Saturday nights. Addy was putting on quite a show. There was a little boy she tried to dance with, but he was too shy.

Back to Work

So yesterday it was back to work. It felt normal. Tim is in charge of drop-offs. So once I got the kids out the door I had a whole 30 minutes to get ready all by myself. Let me tell you it was awesome. 30 minutes is a lot of time if you are used to being interuppted every two minutes. I also had to find a real purse today. No more using the diaper bag as my purse. Another change was real clothes. No more jeans and T-shirts in the real world. On the way in I listened to something other that kids songs and Addison's game of 20,000 questions. I was met with traffic, which at one point we were at a stand still. I do not miss that! Before entering the office I armed myself with a delightful Starbucks drink. You see Sunday night little miss Lilah must have known something was up. So between the hours of 2-4 am, she decided she did not want to sleep. Everytime we laid her back in her crib she cried, so finally at about 4 Tim said "Can she please just sleep with us?". Well wouldn't you know that little one cuddled up to her mama and made not one more peep. So I was a bit tired yesterday, but it was worth it to snuggle with my little girly. Back to my day, walking up to my office I looked like a bag lady. It looked like I was moving in. The work day went smooth. Just organizing and getting things in back in order (my favorite).

Then I went home and played with my pretty babies! Addison puts on her "tennis skirt" daily and likes to wear wings. She calls herself a bat. Lilah just likes to look adorable.

I missed my girls, but all in all it was a good day. No tears were shed and it felt good. Here's to finding my new normal!

2012 Pumpkin Patch

This past weekend was our annual Fabulous Fall Fun day with our friends. Since I love fall, I have historically planned a fun get together with our friends and their kids. This year we tried out Pumpkin Town. However, before this event even started we had a special outting to the Pediatric Urgent Care. You see I spent all day Friday baking and cooking for the big day. Friday evening we skipped Tim's game because there was a chance of rain. Rain with two kids and all the stuff you drag around for two kids doesn't sound fun in a down pour. Well no rain happened so I took the girls outside to play. Trying to be that fun mom I swung Addison around and around in a circle by her arms. She giggled and laughed, loving every second until we heard a "pop" "ouch mom". Oops okay we will stop that. We went on about our business and Addy kept favoring her arm telling me it hurt. I figured she was being a bit dramatic and it would be fine in the morning. In the middle of the night she woke up and she still acted like it hurt and wouldn't bend it without almost crying. Great, I have now officially hurt my child big time. So 3 am I am googling and feeling like a horrible mom. Turns out little kids have loose joints and you aren't supposed to spin them around by their arms or ligaments can pop into these joints. So the next morning (I am working on 3 hours of sleep here) Tim is off to football practice, and I am off with the kids to drop off the food at our friends house and off to the urgent care. Of course we waited and waited. Finally the doctor came and tried to pop the ligament back all while little miss is screaming ouch, ouch! The doctor never felt or heard a pop back into place, so "let's just get an x-ray to make sure nothing is broken". Cue mom feeling really horrible and near tears. No breaks, so she just needs to wear this sling and it will help it slip back into place. So all of this happens before we even start our day of fun.

Up we roll to the pumpkin patch 20 minutes late with our child in a sling. Awesome!!! After a pony ride and playing with friends we noticed she wasn't even using the sling and she seemed to be utilizing her arm. She also said her arm didn't hurt anymore, so I guess the doctor popped it back into place after all.

Anyway back to the patch. There was a lot of activities there for kiddos. Tons of little playhouses for them to explore, bounce houses, slides, a "train" ride, and pony rides. It was sprinkling off and on and extremely windy, so we didn't stay too long. We left the pumpkin patch and headed to the Smith's house for food and OSU football.

That evening also happened to be Aunt Jenny's school carnival. So we dressed up the girls in their Halloween costumes and off we went to Aunt Jenny's school. We made sure we were there for Jenny's time slot of "pie in the face". This, however, tramatized poor Addy. She did not like people throwing pie at her Aunt. Her favorite game was the cake walk.

Since our time at the pumpkin patch was spent doing activities and not really picking out any pumpkins, Sunday after church we stopped by another local church and let Addison pick out a pumpkin. We got a really big one and a little one. Side note: pictures with two kids is HARD!
