These Days: September

September was an important milestone month for Tim and I. We both turned 40! So we celebrated in small celebrations with our family of 4 and a bigger celebration with our quarantine buddies in a lake house in Arkansas. It started out as an adult trip, but as 2020 goes that didn't go as planned. Nine days into school, the school had a COVID outbreak and had to switch to two weeks of distance learning. I took the first day with all 9 kids of our group. It was a fun and exhausting day. After that we split up the 9 and took turns. I was the 5th grade monitor, so I had a great time watching the girls work hard to complete their assignments for the day so they could socialize after. Luckily the first day of "homeschool" we had a warm day, so we got in one last fun swim time. As much as homeschooling is a great memory for our family, I was glad for everyone got get back to school.

Arkansas, although different than planned, it was a much needed and very relaxing break. We went with four families to a beautiful, wooded lake house. The kids ran and played and biked. We did lots of kayaking and swinging from a rope into the lake. We put kids to bed early and adults chatted by the fire. Moms went to bed early and guys hung out some more. We all took a hike together, a first for some families. It was lots of fun.

Other things...

  • The kids are still "loving" on the cats
  • Lilah is trying out driving, haha
