Addison's Mini Meet

Recently, Addison had her first mini gymnastics meet. It was really a way for parents to be out on the floor with their kids and take pictures and videos. They were split into four groups and moved around the gym participating in bar, beam, floor and vault. It was nice and relaxed. The girls practiced for each event for a couple of passes. Then they were judged. I use that very loosely because mainly they just received smiley faces on an index card. On the way to the meet I was describing to Addy what she was going to do. Basically I gave her the "let's not clown around speech". She has a tendency in practice to see how many times she can "fall off" the balance beam. When she entered the gym and was put into her group she turned all business. It was so funny to watch how serious she got. I do think she decided she like gymnastics more after the meet. And since she has been working on that darn cartwheel, haha.

She was so proud of the medal. She apparently didn't notice everyone got one and she said after "Mom look I won!" Then that medal went every where she went for the next couple of days.

I love Addison's school!

When Tim first got the job at a private school, I was actually not excited. I had always assumed my children would go to public school. The cheapskate in me thought it was ridiculous to pay for something that was already available for free. I also wanted my kids growing up with the world and understanding just how it works. I didn't want them sheltered. Well, you know how parenthood works. Your mind (well at least mine) changes all the time. I have learned to stop making assumptions. They are usually wrong! Addison started going to school with Tim at three years old. She started in the daycare that was attached to the school. This year she is now in Kindergarten. I am just so thankful that God put Tim in this school because I love it!!! I love that she is learning about God daily. She is learning about making good decisions and there is such a focus on the fruits of the spirit. Throughout the day they pray and on Thursday mornings they have chapel. These are things she would not have been around in a public school. I have decided I am just fine with this "sheltering". I am thankful for it in fact. I am thankful that she is receiving such an amazing foundation focused on the important things in life.

Once a month, a class is in charge of chapel and this month was Kindergarten. Tim and I got to attend, even Lilah decided she needed to watch sister too. It is such a neat experience to hear all of the little voices praising God. I got teary eyed just thinking how lucky we are to get to experience school in this setting. It was a blessing to get to be part of it and I am so thankful for the teachers and administration that are helping us to raise this precious child.

Valentine's Day Weekend

Valentine's Day celebrations started on Friday with class parties. I made it to Addison's but not Lilah's. Lilah's was supposed to be at 2:30, but her teacher said they all woke up from nap early and she just couldn't tell them they had to wait. So I walked in just as they were finishing up. Addison's class had an ice cream party.

After class, Ryker stopped by the school to give Addy a Valentine's gift. Then his mom and I chatted while they played on the playground. These two are so cute and funny how smitten they are with each other. Of course they both have other boyfriends/girlfriends. But each is their number one. Haha

We came home and sorted Valentine's and Lilah got ready for the basketball game.

(we had to do a little outfit alterations)

On the way to the game we dropped Addy off at her besties house for a birthday party. Molly's mom sent me some pictures from the night. Looks like she had a blast!

While, Lilah was standing in for big sis in the run out line.

At this game Leah's grandkids came so Lilah had little girlies her age to play with at the game.

Post game running on the court

Saturday we took naps (somehow I managed two naps) and lounged around. That evening we went over to my cousins and played card games. It was a nice lazy Saturday. Something we really needed.
Sunday morning I woke up early and decorated the dining room for our Valentine's breakfast. We ate, chatted, and shared some love with our little family. Then it was off to church followed by another afternoon of naps. It was a wonderful weekend shared with the ones I love most.

New Era: Minivan mom

Well the time has come! I am now the owner of a minivan. It was on our things to do in 2016 list. Since having babies and borrowing my grandparents van for a week, I have liked the idea of a van. They are just so darn practical and roomy. However, I also love no car payments and knew we would never have a car payment again. So the idea was to someday buy something used and save up to buy it cash. We actually were going to buy Tim a new, used car before I got something new. But after hauling around kids and football equipment this fall, we decided maybe a van would be the best use for our family. So we started the hunt last fall. I wanted to get a good deal and keep the price as low as possible (I hate spending money!) Our patience paid off and we found a very well taken care of minivan. I am pretty sure it was owned by an older couple because there was no sign of kids. Also, the running boards seemed like perhaps they were for an older couple. After a couple of weeks of driving it, I am so happy we took the leap. There is sooooooo much room! The girls love it also.

(Note: Just after this picture Tim took off the running boards, trying to make it look cooler! ;))

Back in my old office. I like this view much better.

We started monthly dinners with our Sunday School class. These kids are going to have so much fun playing together each month.
