Well, summer is over and back to school we go. I will say I am excited to have more of a schedule, but also feeling a little overwhelmed with the craziness of the schedule. I also feel like the summer literally flew by. So much of the summer was filled with working on the pool and pool house. Not many relaxing lazy days filled in there. Next year we have agreed no big projects!
We started off the back to school activities with Meet the Teacher on Tuesday night. Addison was really excited. We found out her teacher and she was excited about that, but then really sad when she found out her besties weren't in the same class. We went to her classroom and she then got excited that she had a REAL desk with BIG books in it. So she soon forgot that she would miss her friends. We have talked about making new friends and she really does get along with everyone so no worries really. Plus they see each other at lunch and recesses. I wish I got a picture or two at the event. Because after we met the teacher we went to the gym to see Daddy, shop for spirit wear, talk with friends and eat popsicles. Lilah literally was covered in popsicle. It was quite hilarious actually.
The night before we read our traditional Kissing Hand book and also read The Night Before First Grade. Both girls were pretty excited about the next day. Lilah apprehensive, but still excited. Addison was super excited.
The next morning I made red pancakes (for Lilah's room color, "Red Room"). I was really trying to keep the excitement up for her. She was excited, but also did not want to go. It was a pretty big roller coaster with her trying to decide if she wanted to go. She is my child who hates change. I took the obligatory 97 pictures and off we went.
On the way Lilah decided she in fact did not want to go and started crying. Drop off really sucked with her. She was bawling and screaming. Luckily Ms. Cathy is one of our favorites. She watches the kids sometimes so it's not like Lilah doesn't know her. I just had to drop and run. The longer I linger the worse the crying is. Ms. Cathy texted me later saying she was fine and of course she had become the teacher's helper. That's my Lilah. She has always been the teacher's helper and likes to keep the others in line. So no pictures of Lilah's drop off.
Addison on the other hand was super excited. She was bouncing up the stairs ready to go. We organized her supplies and she was still pretty pumped about the big girl school desk. Her teacher is fabulous. The most kind, loving teacher. She will do great this year.
After school Addy said it was GREAT! Lilah still unsure but said she wasn't going to cry the next day. And she only actually teared up a little Tim said. So I think we are gonna be okay this year.

Cousins!
While we were away in Phoenix my mom and grandma had pictures taken of the cousins. It was quite eventful. After the first group shot Addy threw up. Poor little thing tried to power through but you could just see it on her face she did not feel good. At least they still got some good group shots.

These Days: July
July is Lilah's special month, but it is also a fun summer month. The last month to pack in all the summer fun possible before it is time for back to school activities.
This summer Addison has learned so many life skills. Tim taught Addison to use the push mower. She has also learned how to make cook some food items like eggs, toast, eggo waffles, and sandwiches. When I leave for work I leave a few chores like putting away and hanging up her clothes and sorting the laundry. She has just grown up this summer. Finally pulling her weight, hehe.

One of my favorite weekends this month was our annual weekend with the Burnett's. It usually only happens once a year that all of our schedules open up and we spend a whole weekend together. We spent the entire weekend in the pool pretending we were on a vacation. It was so perfect! Relaxing and just the best! These kids get along so well too! Addy and Jack play together while Avery plays mama to Lilah.
On Mondays Tim had softball, so we tried out lots of sno cones.
One Monday we took our neighbor friend and found a park after getting sno cones.
Of course we had our Mason time. He's not so little any more.
Tim's face after I didn't like his original wall texture (see the splotches everywhere) and I made him mud the whole wall in the pool house. You can see he is thrilled.
Graffitied the drive way with chalk paint.
Lilah finally fits into her one year old birthday party outfit!
