Lilah,
Wow, it has already been a month. Here are some tid bits from your first month with us.
You weigh 9 lbs and are 22.5" long. You are growing like a little weed. You are still wearing newborn diapers and clothes. We are finishing this box of diapers and then moving up to size 1.
You are eating about every 2-3 hours during the day and about 3-4 (a few 5) hours at night. When 7 o'clock hits in the evening you want to eat about every hour or hour and a half. The lactation consultant said you are just storing up for the night. You have your last feeding about 10:30 or 11. Like your sister you are an efficient eater. Usually you nurse for approximately 5 minutes and on one side only. You are a spitter upper. We have had a few times where you and I are soaked. We go through a lot of burb rags at this house. The lactation consultant said you might be eating too fast so we have some tricks we are going to try to slow you down.
You still sleep a lot throughout the day. About week 2.5 I tried to start scheduling you out with the eat, wake, sleep pattern. You did very well with it but then life got crazy busy again, so a schedule has been thrown out the window. Somedays we try to keep you up after eating and others it just doesn't happen. It hasn't seemed to effect your night time sleep so I guess it isn't that big of a deal. I think when daddy starts school soon things will slow down a bit throughout the day. At night you go to bed about 10:30 or 11 and sleep for about 3-4 hours. We have had a few 5 hour stretches, but that is not normal. In the morning you usually wake for a feeding between 6 & 8, I usually feed you and snuggle for 30 minutes or so then let you finish sleeping in my spot while I attempt to get ready for the day. Most nights you fuss a little bit before finally falling asleep. You like to grunt and snort around a bit, but if we leave you alone for a minute or two you will usually fall right asleep.
You recognize mommy and daddy's voices and will turn your head or eyes towards us when we talk. Especially if you hear my voice and you are hungry, you will throw your head back like a little bird and put your mouth towards me. You are tracking things with your eyes.
You really are a very laid back baby. I think you take after your daddy. You seem pretty content to go with the flow. You love your swing and being held. I keep thinking that allowing you to sleep in either will mess up your night time sleep, but so far we are okay here. You love to have people talk to you and don't seem to mind your sister's not so gentle touches or pats on the head. She just loves you so much and gets excited to see you. She loves to comfort you when you are crying. She says, "it's okay".
You have had tons of family and friends visit this month. We have also made a few trips to Pryor to pick up your sister. You have been out and about to mall, grocery stores, restaurants, church, and many other spots. We seem to be getting the hang of two kiddos and are so glad you are part of our family. We love you so so very much and thank God for giving you to us.
Love,
Mommy
