Lilah: Two Months

Little Lilah,

You are two months, how did that happen. You are starting to show your little personality more and more. This month was filled with lots of cute gummy grins, sweet coos, and tons of cuddles.

I waited one day late to post because we went to the doctor this morning. You weigh 10 lbs. 6 oz. and are 22.5" long. You are in the 50% for all your growth cateorgies, very proportionate little one. We had your first round of shots. Boy did you cry, poor thing.

This month I tearfully put away all of your newborn clothes. I think I had squashed you in them long enough. So on your 7 week birthday I packed them all away, and busted out the 0-3 and 3 month clothes. Some how these were not too big like I was hoping. Little one you are growing and filling out. You are also wearing size 1 diapers.

You are still eating about every 2.5 - 3 hours during the day and you still like to cluster feed in the evenings. However, the evening feedings are not as many as during your first month. We have given you a bottle a couple of times and left you with others who gave you a bottle. Jury is still out on the bottle. You will evenutally take it, but you aren't a huge fan.

You have had longer bouts of night sleeping more this month. Several 5-6 hour stretches, but usually followed by a 3-4 hour night. So nothing consistent. You did have one night this week where I put you to bed and you were still asleep when I left to workout at 5:30. However, dad said you woke up as soon as the garage door closed. Also, last night we left you unswaddled and put you down at 10. I fully expected you to want to be swaddled up as soon as we put you down, but you fooled us. You finally woke up at 6:30 the next morning!!! A few times I checked on you on the monitor and your arms were sprawled out as if to say yay I am free. Also, you found a way to soothe yourself, your thumb! Mama has been so against this because how do you ever get rid of a thumb, but after you slept all night we decided to stop fighting it. So suck on you thumb sucker. (Of course your sister woke up at 3 and 4 both night you slept through the night, so we didn't reap the full benefits.) We will get there!

All of your nights this month have been in your crib. Naps are hit and miss on the time and location. You usually take a nap after being awake for a bit after eating, but lately you are starting to have more awake time. We are out and about a lot so your location varies. However, my favorite location is my bed. I put you on my side and I sleep on daddy's side of the bed. I swore I would never do this, but I said I wouldn't do a lot of stuff. I love watching you peacefully sleep before I catch a cat nap myself. Sometimes I just hold you as you drift off too sleep. We are lucky because you love to cuddle. Then I will sniff the sweet nape of your neck. You have that perfect baby scent. I can't get enough of you little lady.

We have determined that you might have a cow's milk protein allergy. It seems to be mild, so I am hoping you will out grow it in a few months. Everything I have researched seems to indicate you will likely out grow it between 6 -18 months. I am hoping for the 6 month mark because mama has a ton of possibly "contaminated" milk that I do not want to throw away. Until then I am swearing off milk, ice cream, cheese, etc.  So far you seem to be okay as long as milk is not the main ingredient. This will probably be good for my waist-line anyway. Update: The pediatrician said not too worry too much about this. You have a mild case and the milk I have saved will be a-okay. Whew!

A few more highlights of the month.
- Smile tons
- Started cooing and trying to use that cute little voice of yours. The past few days you have talked up a storm, telling me lots of stories.
- Found your self in the mirror above the swing
- Have been to Shawnee and Pryor.
- Have been to football and softball games.
- Have been cuddled by lots of family and friends.
- You love to suck on your hand. I think you are trying to get that thumb in there. Update: Full fledged thumb sucker, although still a little ackward with it.
- Are not a big fan of a paci. It is almost as if you don't know what to do with it, or maybe you just know it is not the real thing.
- You have  been to work with mom several times, and you were a perfect angel everytime.
- Want your mama in the evenings
- Like for the car to be moving
- Love for us to sing twinkle, twinkle
- Love to look or be outside
- Had your first "orange" Friday and football season started

Lilah, we are so happy you are with us. I thank the Lord for blessing our lives with you. Everyone just loves you to pieces, especially your big sister. She has been such a big help and is constantly kissing and loving on you. I hope you two will be the best of friends.

Love you forever,
Mommy
