Lilah,
Happy 8 months!
You weigh 15 lbs 3 ounces. We forgot to measure you, oops. We ran out of size 2 diapers, so we decided just to put you into size 3. They seem a little big, but they will do. You are still wearing 6 months clothes. We squeezed you into a 3-6 month onesie the other day and it showed all your belly rolls. LOL!
You are on a pretty good eating schedule. You are pretty much eating three meals a day, with some morning and evening nursing sessions. You have oatmeal for breakfast, a veggie for lunch and fruit and oatmeal for dinner. We gave you some sweet potato puffs for Valentines day and some tiny rice cakes. It gives you something to practice with while everyone is eating dinner or you are watching me cook. I will say you haven't gotten real good at making it in your mouth, most of it ends up on the floor or in your seat. However, you concentrate really hard and are so serious, complete cuteness!!
You sleeping schedule, well you started out the month bad! You were waking up a lot, and refusing to go back to bed. You wanted us to hold you or to sleep in our bed. Your daddy and I were tired. After a trip to the doctor, because I knew something was wrong turns out you are just spoiled. It is so hard not to spoil you. You are just so snugly and cute. So we did what the doctor said and just let you cry. You cried for over an hour. After several nights of this, I texted the nurse and said "help not working!". She sent over some more information on sleep training. Basically, we needed to put you to bed awake, so that you could learn to put yourself to sleep on your own. No more snuggling and nursing to sleep. I was pretty sad to see this go, but I was equally as exhausted. The first two nights you cried for 45 mins before finally drifting to sleep. After that you have gone straight to bed and no waking up in the middle of the night. In fact around 7:30 or 8 you are very ready for bed and don't really want to rock anymore. You fuss and wiggle around until I put you in your bed. I still snuggle you up during the time you are awake, so I think this is a win win for everyone. Now if your sister will stop the crazy middle of the night wake ups. We might get a full nights sleep soon!
Activities this month....
- Dad went on a ski trip so we had several days of girl time.
- We went to the aquarium.
- You are still army crawling like crazy. You follow us around and nothing is off limits.
- You haven't pulled up yet, but are starting to reach up and try to pull up. You haven't figured out how to use your knees to help push or self up or crawl for that matter. But you seem so close on all of these.
- We went on a family run/walk. You giggled the entire time in the stroller.
- You really are a giggly girl, more so than your sister. I think she provides you with about 90% of your giggly moments.
- We desperately need to baby proof, or just put away most of Addy's tiny object, especially rubber hair bands and polly pockets. We have found both in your mouth, along with other things.
- You seem to become increasingly attached to your thumb and blanket.
- As much as your sister makes you laugh, you have started to become annoyed by your sister. Stacy says that Addy will pick on you and you just get so irritated and mad. I witnessed this once when you guys were taking a bath and Addy was sticking her foot up by your face. The first 10 times both of you died laughing. Well, time 11 you had had enough and screamed at her. Yikes, you could have a little temper hiding in there. It was still cute though.
- Your top teeth are just about to pop through. We can see the little whites, but they haven't broken the skin yet. Any day though.
- We went to two friends birthday parties, Madison (3) and Ian (1).
- You started going to the nursery at church. After the Ash Wednesday service where I fed you and had to wrestle you to sit still, I decided it was time. You were no longer willing to just sleep and be a quiet little girl. Instead you would rather flirt with all the old men, talk during prayers, and try to crawl out of my arms. I have had several offers of others to hold you during church. They miss seeing you.
- We celebrated Valentine's Day.
- You said Mama! You continue to become more and more vocal.
- You have several ticklish spots and you giggle is the cutest thing ever!
Little Li, you are a complete joy in our family. You are always happy and smiling. We love you so so much and cannot imagine life with out you my sunshine.
Love you forever and always,
Mommy
