You have quickly moved from toddler to child. You continue to be a sweet, smart, independent, and loving girl. You are very much the leader of the pack. You know what you want and how you want it done. I see myself in you everyday. You are such a good big sister. You help Lilah so much. You encourage her and protect her. You also tell her what she is to do and how to do it. But you are so very loving to her. You both play very well together and will play for quite some time in the sandbox or with your dollhouse. You are very good at the big sister role.
Addison you have won the heart of your teacher. She has watched you on a couple of occasions when we have had evening events. You have done very well in her class. You often come home and say you wiggled or played with toys at nap time which is a no no. However, I don't really say much about this anymore. You really don't need a nap, but have to continue this process for the next year. You seem to get along well with everyone in your class and like to dole out hugs when you leave for the day. Just a few of the things you have learned: over 25 bible verses, know your numbers and letters, understand patterns, and color and draw fairly well. You really want to learn when your dad or I use a word you don't know you ask what it means. You also try to use all the new words you are learning. You seem very proud and matter of fact when you use these big, new words, such a little grown up.
You are still one for the dramatics. We should buy stock in band-aids. Every little boo boo is fixed with a hug and a band-aid. You can go through several band-aids a day. And you seem to be a sensitive little flower, easily damaged. Perhaps you like the attention that follows, I must say don't mind the snuggling it requires. However, we may have to toughen you up a bit in the future.
You like to do everything yourself. Little Miss Independent! Pour your own drinks, pick out your own outfit (very particular about this one), make your own cereal, buckle yourself, the list could go on and on. You are mature and more of a serious soul, must be that oldest child syndrome. You have your goofy times, but most of the time you are busy getting people, dogs or cats in line. Speaking of dogs and cats, you love animals. We recently brought home two baby kittens. Both you and your sister are in love. They are just the right size to tote around, play in the sandbox, and push around in your baby stroller. Sometimes I hear you scolding and correcting them, hilarious. You are their little mama.
TV time is minimal in our house, maybe a show before bedtime. You have fallen very much in love with Disney's Frozen. In fact, our kitties are named Elsa and Anna. You act out all of the songs and sing along. We noticed, while watching you and your friends singing the songs, that you are very into getting the actions just right. Other girls are more focused on the words, but you are trying to make sure all of your moves are just like Elsa or Anna. I wonder if this means you will like drama or acting. So fun watching you and your friends together. I do notice that you are very sensitive when playing with others. You want everyone to follow your lead, which most are willing to do. But your feelings are very hurt when someone says an unkind word (which tends to happen with children). We are working on not tattling and teaching you others can lead. However, I don't want to take away your personality. Being a leader is a great quality, I just want to steer you into being a loving and service oriented leader. You have a very soft heart, so I know you possess these qualities. It is just hard for a four and a half year old to understand that sometimes you don't get your way.
Addy Stories
- One Saturday at 7 in the morning you and Lilah came bursting through our bedroom door. You happily exclaimed, "Mom I got Lilah out of bed". Then you continued to explain how you got in her crib, lifted her over the railing and lowered her down by her arms. You were both so proud of your accomplishment. This continues to be a weekend occurrence if we don't hear you all on the monitor first.
- I think it might be time to teach you to do laundry soon. I believe you go through about 3 outfits a day at a minimum. Not because such outfits are dirty, but you change your mood and must then change your outfit.
- You love to wear your hair down with a headband. Now that the weather is nicer and we are playing outside more we have convinced you a ponytail is cool too.
- You and I went on a date to get a pedicure together. You were very much in your element. You like all things girly.
- The other day you told us that you "Go to work, but you don't get paid." You pretend a lot that you are working in an office.
- You like to play in Daddy's workshop, so we have turned the third car garage into your shop. The other day you painted pictures in your shop. You love having a space to call your own.
- You really like to make your own breakfast. One day I walked in the kitchen and you had a waffle with a mound of brown sugar.
- You love to negotiate. I will say Addison 5 minutes until bedtime. You respond with "How about 10 minutes. It's not that long!" Of course this is said with a sweet voice and a big smile. I try not to give in to your antics.
