Back to School 2016

Well, summer is over and back to school we go. I will say I am excited to have more of a schedule, but also feeling a little overwhelmed with the craziness of the schedule. I also feel like the summer literally flew by. So much of the summer was filled with working on the pool and pool house. Not many relaxing lazy days filled in there. Next year we have agreed no big projects!

We started off the back to school activities with Meet the Teacher on Tuesday night. Addison was really excited. We found out her teacher and she was excited about that, but then really sad when she found out her besties weren't in the same class. We went to her classroom and she then got excited that she had a REAL desk with BIG books in it. So she soon forgot that she would miss her friends. We have talked about making new friends and she really does get along with everyone so no worries really. Plus they see each other at lunch and recesses. I wish I got a picture or two at the event. Because after we met the teacher we went to the gym to see Daddy, shop for spirit wear, talk with friends and eat popsicles. Lilah literally was covered in popsicle. It was quite hilarious actually.

The night before we read our traditional Kissing Hand book and also read The Night Before First Grade. Both girls were pretty excited about the next day. Lilah apprehensive, but still excited. Addison was super excited.

The next morning I made red pancakes (for Lilah's room color, "Red Room"). I was really trying to keep the excitement up for her. She was excited, but also did not want to go. It was a pretty big roller coaster with her trying to decide if she wanted to go. She is my child who hates change. I took the obligatory 97 pictures and off we went.

On the way Lilah decided she in fact did not want to go and started crying. Drop off really sucked with her. She was bawling and screaming. Luckily Ms. Cathy is one of our favorites. She watches the kids sometimes so it's not like Lilah doesn't know her. I just had to drop and run. The longer I linger the worse the crying is. Ms. Cathy texted me later saying she was fine and of course she had become the teacher's helper. That's my Lilah. She has always been the teacher's helper and likes to keep the others in line. So no pictures of Lilah's drop off.

Addison on the other hand was super excited. She was bouncing up the stairs ready to go. We organized her supplies and she was still pretty pumped about the big girl school desk. Her teacher is fabulous. The most kind, loving teacher. She will do great this year.

After school Addy said it was GREAT! Lilah still unsure but said she wasn't going to cry the next day. And she only actually teared up a little Tim said. So I think we are gonna be okay this year.
