Today you are 8 years old. I can't believe in 8 more years you will be driving. Like I say every year, time is flying with you! I am just trying to hold on to every memory. I know I will blink and then you will be off to college.
This year I am trying to organize you letter a bit into categories. I want to capture all you have been up to over the last year!
School- Addison, you are a great student. You do well on your school work. Your best subjects are science and spelling. You struggle a bit with reading and English, by struggle I mean a low A/high B. Most of that I have learned is you don't follow along while others are reading and you get distracted, so when you have your comprehension test you are lost. You like reading though. You came home beaming when you got to move to the "big library" with chapter books. You love all the "specials" Art, Music, STEAM, P.E., Library, Computers, & Spanish. You came home one day telling me you were going to start getting all "F's". In fact, the whole second grad had decided they were going to fail. You all had decided that in order to keep your music teacher and not move to the 3rd grade and up music teacher you would all just fail. Then you could keep Mrs. Martin. I just had to share that story with her and she said she was going to miss you all just as much too.
You love your teacher Mrs. S. and got great comments on your parent/teacher conference. The only thing to work on is... talking too much. Haha, you are a social kiddo, leading some sort of pack of kids. Always the one in charge, clapping your hands for everyone to listen up. I love that about you, a born leader!
After School Activities- You have continued with Girl Scouts this year. You love all of the activities, especially the STEM and canoeing. Our troop is very active, so there seems to be an activity every week. At times you are over it, but once you attend the activity you love it. You just started basketball this month. Oh you and your dad are so cute together. He had to get you all geared up with proper clothes and shoes. Day one of practice you were the only one that had all of your gear and looked the part. Girl, you surprised us! You are actually really good. I love that you and your dad share this activity. You are also still doing gymnastics. This year you have done a back handspring by yourself. You really like the gym we are at and have done some extra clinics on Saturdays. You are CONSTANTLY cartwheeling all over the house. Part of me wants to scream STOP, but I try my best to hold back. Just get all that energy out. If you want to throw a cartwheel mid stride, go for it. Sometimes I get the urge too! This past month the school offered STEAM for an hour after school. Since you go to aftercare, we let you participate in any of the school activities. STEAM has turned out to be a favorite of yours. Because of schedules we have decided for you to only do Young Rembrandts (Art) in the spring. You really love art, so you are really excited to start this up again.
Other Activities- This year for spring break we went skiing. You went to one day of ski school and picked it up great! You loved it and wanted to go again and again. This summer in the pool you nailed your dive. You are a little fish... or should I say mermaid. You got a mermaid tail from Santa and you needed to show it off to everyone that came over to swim. You are a bit of a performer, liking the spotlight when guests are around. During our Fall Break trip to Branson, you and I took a couple of hours just the two of us to go shopping. Addison, you were a great shopping buddy. You are starting to love all things fashion and you were patient and helpful when it was my time to try on clothes. It was a fun little adventure I am glad we got to have together. This summer you learned to do your own laundry, hang it up and put it all away. You can cook your own eggs on the stove. You love to organize, just like your mom!
Demeanor- Addison, you have a soft heart, especially for animals and people in need. Your teacher has shared that you are the one to comfort others or stick up for those getting picked on. This makes your momma's heart soar. I constantly remind you to show God's love and am so happy you are compassionate and sympathetic to others. You are very emotional. We have had some visitors leave and you are just a weepy mess that evening. You miss and love them all so much. Your emotions are all over the place and move fast. You are quick to scream and cry, but also very quick to get over them and apologize. You are very remorseful and apologetic when you have done wrong or hurt someone's feelings. You stick up for others. Lilah was throwing a massive fit one day and said she hated me and was going to let her kids have anything they wanted when they grow up. You were quick to stick up for me and tell Lilah I was a good mom. It hurt your feelings that Lilah was mean to me.
Favorites- Here are a few of your other favorites! Animals! You love all animals. Helping mom cook. Makeup. Cold shoulder shirts. The colors black and blue. Boys- You are boy crazy. Cartwheels. Fashion- This year for your birthday you asked for clothes. Books about animals. Quality time. High pony tails and cheer bows. Athletic clothes.
Addison, you are a complete joy in our lives. You are goofy, beautiful, fun, smart, compassionate, and just down right awesome. I love you so much and hope this year is the best. Happy birthday.
Love,
Momma
Your birthday photo shoot has become a favorite of yours. This year you wanted to take a prop of a coffee cup because you had a pose all picked out.
You wanted to end the session with a funny face!
