Today you are 5 months old. You continue to grow and develop the most precious personality. You are still a super laid back baby. You just go with the flow and smile the whole time.
You weigh 14 lbs. and are 24 inches long. You are still in size 2 diapers and are wearing 3 months and 3-6 months. You have started to fill out a little bit, little cutie.
Your eating has not really changed much over the last month. Still at about 3 oz every 3 hours. In the evenings you nurse a couple of times, as well as some throughout the night. The past couple of days though you have eaten more at Stacy's and practically nursed all night so maybe you are going through a growth spurt. I was worried that you haven't been eating enough, but the pediatrician says you are growing just fine. Also, said that since you only take 3 oz at a time you probably won't sleep through the night. Which little one you are not doing anymore. Once we add food maybe we can get a little more in your tummy throughout the day. Speaking of food, we are still holding off until you are closer to 6 months. They recommend this especially with babies who have allergies. So I think the first week of January, while I am still on break we will introduce some cereal. That way I can experience all the fun with you.
As I eluded to above you are not sleeping through the night anymore. With our trip to Indiana and apparently you having a small little tummy, sleeping longer that 5 or 6 hours has gone by the wayside. Your daddy and I are hopeful that at the 6 month mark when you get some food this will stop. We are counting down!!! You sleep from about 11-4 if you are going to sleep for a long stretch. However, this is not consistent at all. Sometimes you wake up at 2 or 3. With your sister I could just give her a paci. It is kind of hard to stuff a thumb in your mouth, so I nurse you. If it is 3 or later we just let you sleep in our bed. Your daddy is convenced you just want in our bed and we should get you a pillowtop for your bed. LOL.
This month you started laughing. If I kiss or blow on your belly you will let out the cutest giggle. You also started rolling over. Several times we caught you on your back in the middle of the night. The day we got back from our Thanksgiving trip you woke yourself up rolling from your belly to back, so the next day I was determined to see your new trick in person. I waited and waited that morning, camera in hand. You finally rolled from your belly to your back. You have only mastered one direction, but you roll quite often now.
Highlights from this month...
- We went to Indiana to visit Daddy's Dad's family over Thanksgiving.
- We went to the aquarium for your sister's third bithday.
- We had a party for your sister at Bounce U.
- Your daddy is convenced the only way he can calm you is by letting you watch football. It actually does work.
- Sometimes when you are nursing you slip your thumb in too. Already trying to multitask.
- You are very observant. You especially like to intently watch us eat or drink.
- While we eat dinner you sit in your bouncer on the table. The other day you figured out how to pull your toy overhead and make the music play. You kept pulling it everytime the music would stop.
- You discovered your feet and love to play with them especially while getting your diaper changed.
- You make smacking noises with your mouth.
- We put up our Christmas Tree.
- We put away the swing and brought out your big play bouncer.
- Your abs are getting stronger and stronger. You like to sit up and watch the action, mostly in your bumbo.
- You can hold your bottle all by yourself.
Lilah, you continually make us smile and laugh. It is amazing to watch you grow and develop. You are ALWAYS smiling and usually content. We love you so much!
Love you forever and always,
Mommy
