Lilah: One Year!

Happy Birthday Lilah!!!

It seems like just yesterday we were at the hospital ready to meet you, little lady. Now today we are celebrating your first year of life.

You are 17.6 lbs(5%) and 26 3/4" long (7%).  You are tiny. Addison was 2 lbs heavier and 2.5" longer than you at one. You are still wearing size 9 month clothes and size 3 diapers. You are a petite little girl, but such a strong girl too.

You have pretty much transitioned to table food. We give you baby food sometimes as a supplement if you don't eat well, but you really like eating. This week you finished up the last of your frozen breast milk, perfect timing. You have had cows milk slowly introduced into your diet over the past couple of weeks and seem to be handling it all just fine. I still give you a morning and evening bottle and probably will for several more months. I know you are supposed to transition the bottle out as soon as you turn one, but we didn't do that with Addison either. I am sure you will turn out fine.

Your sleep has not changed much. Still sleeping like a champ and like to go to bed by 8:00 pm. Our new bedtime routine has not changed much other than you get a bottle instead of nursing.

You are turning into a full time walker. You have not fully transitioned quite yet. Over the past week you have started to crawl somewhere and realize oh I could actually walk. So there is still a lot of back and forth between walking and crawling. Everyday you walk more and more. I bet in one more week you will be completely done with crawling and running will start soon, haha.

You are showing us more and more of your personality everyday. You are so sweet and loving. You rarely cry unless you are tired and want your mama or your sister is taking your toy. I believe the word that describes you is happy. You are always smiling and content to just go with the flow. You are just the perfect baby. I know I am a bit biased, but you really are.

Highlights from the past month.
-Father's day
-Several pool adventures
-A trip to the farmers market in the wagon
-You have seven teeth and are working on the other three one year molars
-An overnight stays at Nana's and at Pop's/Gammy's
-Several family get togethers (Great Grandpa's birthday, Webster relatives in town, Cousin Janet's wedding reception)
-Mom had a weekend away in Mexico
-You have taken a few bites out of your sister. We are working on getting your piranha tendencies under control.
-Along those lines we have seen a couple of glimpses of a little temper you might be hiding. There have been occasions where your sister casually "trades" you a toy and you don't want to trade. You are sure to make some loud noise and let everyone know. This is also where you might show off your sharp little pearly whites.
-The 4th of July, You loved the fireworks.
-Pet peeves: Car seats and having your diaper changed
-Had your first cookie and today you will have your first cake!
-You have seven teeth and are working on three more molars.
-You point at things and say the same thing every time. It sounds like "dat" or "adat". We are thinking you are trying to say "what's that?".
-You can say mama, dada, and uh oh.

Lilah, you are pure joy. We are so lucky to have you as part of our family. You are loved so very much by everyone. I pray that God gives us the wisdom and guidance to raise you. I also pray that you always know God's love. You are such a precious gift and we are so very thankful for you. Happy birthday precious girl. We love you!!!

Love you forever and always,
Mommy
