Homecoming Flower Girl

Over Christmas my cousin, Kelvin, asked Addison if she would be the wrestling homecoming flower girl. He was voted the king, so he got to help choose the crown bearer and flower girl. Addison was very excited that she got to dress up in two pretty dresses. However, she was very unsure about the crowd of people watching here.

The morning of homecoming there was a pep assembly. Addison was very unsure of the bright light and the crowd of students cheering for her. She basically hid in the queen's dress. After the pep assembly we mingled with the girls of the court so she would feel more comfortable that evening.

That evening we arrived two hours early, so that Addison could play with the crown bearer and run around the gym to get comfortable. Also, my friend from high school did Addy's hair. Addy told her she wanted her hair to the side like a princess. Once we got her dressed, we had to try to keep her clean, so I little phone distraction was in order. She seemed to be much more comfortable with all of the new people.

Addy did a wonderful job walking out in front of everyone. She walked very carefully as she was afraid to step on the queen's poofy dress. She stood where she was supposed to and looked pleasant, but serious the entire time. Everything was going swell until the kiss. My cousin shook the queen's hand then grabbed her for a good kiss. This made everyone laugh. Addy thought everyone was laughing at her and there was no recovery. She cried and hid in her hands. When she spotted me, she ran off stage.

A bribe of Dr. Pepper later and she took a few pictures with the girls. Then it was off with her new buddy Cooper. I found her after my cousin won his match wrestling with all the other kids in the practice room. She was such a sight. Her hair was all messed up, her dress untied, and she was bright red from running and having fun. It's nice to know my little princess can still act her age and not the 13 year old she sometimes thinks she is.
