Spring Break 2014

Since moving into the working world after granduating from college, I have not celebrated spring break. For the first several years it wasn't really a big deal. Tim was working too and we didn't have any kiddos. Then Tim moved into the teaching world and all of the sudden he was getting all sorts of breaks. Tax season does not honor spring break. We had children and although they aren't school age yet, there is still a spring break. I haven't been able to partake of theses breaks until this year! Moving into industry has made things much more flexible for breaks and vacations. So I was looking forward to my first spring break. However, the preceding month and a half before spring break I missed probably a week to two weeks of work dealing with sick kiddos. Feeling guilty for missing so much, I volunteered to work two half days. We still managed to have a pretty good time. So sit back and be ready for a LONG post. Since I rarely post these days, I try to squeeze lots in one post.

We started our break by visiting Tim's family and the Burnett family. We headed over Saturday morning and spent the day with Tim's mom and neice Emma. The girls always have a great time wiith Emma.

Saturday evening, Grandma Becky volunteered to watch our littles so we could have a night out on the town in Shawnee. We had a nice steak dinner and then bowled with Josh and Jill. I love getting together with them. No matter how much time has passed, Jill and I pick up right where we left off. There is never an awkward moment. That's how you know you have a best friend literally for life.

The next day we took Emma shopping and Becky made us some wonderful taco soup. We hung out with Barret in the afternoon.

Then headed to the Burnett's for my favorite, Jill's fried chicken.

How adorable is this prayer circle?!

Addison had a blast with Avery's makeup.

Monday morning was the big outting for the week. Jill, Tim and I took the kids to the Omniplex in OKC. It was such a great time followed by Mazzio's pizza.

Monday afternoon we drove home, unpacked the car, dropped off Lilah at Aunt Jenny's, then took Addy to see Cinderella. One of her teachers had taken her to a movie, but this was the first time we have taken her. She did great, but got pretty wiggly at the end. Two hours is a long time for a little girl to sit still. The movie was cute and had a great message.

Tuesday and Wednesday I worked in the mornings. Tim left on Wednesday as soon as I got home for his men only ski trip. So it was just me and the girlies. We kicked off Thursday with a zoo trip with the Lewis clan. I started off the morning losing my temper and throwing cups. (Keeping it real.) It is not something I am proud of, but I just lost it when it was taking us HOURS (it felt like) to get in the car. I may have said get in the car 1,000 times before yelling it and throwing cups for effect. After which Addy's eyes were as big as saucers and Lilah started crying. We finally got in the car after my temper tantrum then spent the car ride apologizing to each other. We decided we would start over and try again. We ended up having a fabulous time at the zoo.

Friday my mom and nieces Avery and Charlotte came to play. They always play dress up together. At this point I started slacking on the picture taking.

Saturday the big event was a one year old birthday party. Matching girlies is a must.

Sunday we went to church and I was pulled out of Sunday school because Lilah threw up everywhere. So at this point we are going on two months of sicknesses. Tim got home that evening and we prepped for a new week. Spring break thoughts.... It was an okay time but could have been much better. I spent most of the time worrying about the house being clean and thinking about all the spring cleaning that I should be doing. Next year I am planning for fun and looking for a patience pill to take. Lately I have found myself worrying about getting things done instead of enjoying the moment. I also decided we have WAY too many toys. So in the coming months I want to get rid of some of the toys. I think less toys would equal less mess and less stress. We started boxing some up for the playhouse that we hope to start building in the near future. So here is to learning from our mistakes and finding some patience. Experienced moms feel free to chime in.
