We splurged and rented a convertible. It was really fun early in the morning and late evening. Otherwise WAY too hot.
Since we arrived there at 7:00 am, the first stop was breakfast. I tried a poached egg, and now I am addicted. We had to visit this breakfast diner twice. So yummy.
We chose a smaller resort. It was beautiful. Windy paths to the different buildings, surrounded by beautiful plants. The path to our building was littered with pink petals that fell off some nearby fauna. It had a very romantic vibe.
The first day we drove around. Relaxed in the room, planned the outings, visited the pool and went for a nice evening drive. The scenery is just so very different then the green country we live in. And the big cactus plants were everywhere.
The second day, our actual anniversary day, we started off at a beautiful golf course. I drove the cart, took pictures and watched all the animals running around. Tim played golf. After golf, we had massages and relaxed most of the day. We ended the day with a wonderful dinner at the top of a building that is known for it's amazing sunset views.
The next day we took a drive to Sedona. Again, we were just amazed by the landscape. As you are leaving Scottsdale there are the giant cacti EVERYWHERE. Then about halfway to Sedona as you start entering more mountainous terrain they just vanish. You turn off the main highway to head towards Sendona and it seemed halfway into that drive you suddenly are driving among red dirt/rock plateaus and mountains. All of the landscape changes seemed to happen pretty suddenly. It was as though you went over a hill and a new surprise was waiting for you. The drive was just so pretty. We walked around the town and it was cute. We cut our walk/exploring short though because the desert allergies were KILLING Tim. So we drove home and spent the late afternoon and evening relaxing at the hotel.
The last day we did a little shopping and laid out by the pool. It was scorching that day! We were anxious to get home and see the girls. It was so nice to get away just the two of us. I hope we continue this tradition! Here's to many more adventures with my guy!
