Last year I requested to be able to have Christmas day reserved for my little family. I wanted to be able to be home to experience a the joys of Christmas and create our own traditions. Last year Addy didn't really get the concept and I was sick as a dog with our little Lilah, so we didn't do much. This year we put out reindeer food (note to self: encourage a small pile instead of scattering for easier clean up ;) ), put our cookies for Santa, made a Happy Birthday Jesus cake, read the Night Before Christmas, and put out our stockings. With all of the big family activities we had Addison was in bed by 7:00 and our Santa activities were done by 7:30. Tim and I really had fun playing Santa. We put a child lock on Addy's door so we wouldn't miss her reaction, and good ole Lilah woke up at 6:00, so I was up with a nice cup of coffee before anyone else woke up. When Addy knocked on the door to wake up Tim and I flew in the living room with cameras galore (note to self: next year just set up the video camera on a tripod). She seem confused and wondered why Santa didn't eat all of the cookies (we thought the crumbs were a cute touch). Once she was really awake she was pretty excited about her bike with a baby carrier. She seemed to be excited about most of her gifts, but a few reactions to remember were a blue toothbrush and a train set both of which she said they were her friend Nathan's. Apparently blue is not for girls and the train set had a boy on the box. Lilah got rice cereal in her stocking. She has been dying to eat real food! Good job Santa. We spent the rest of the day lounging in a Christmas mess, watching Elf and Christmas Vacation, drinking hot cocoa with Aunt Jenny, snacking and eating chicken and dumplings. It was the perfect Christmas!
