Lilah: 18 Months

Little Lilah,

This month you turned a year and a half. You are growing up fast little one. You weigh 19.6 pounds and are 31 inches tall. You are a tiny little girl, but you are mighty. You seem to have no fear. We refer to you as a wrecking ball. You just barrel your way through objects or people. If you get knocked down you pop back up, usually without a peep or indication that your fall hurt.

You have had all of your teeth in for a while. Teething was not a problem for you at all. We never had any waking up at night issues or crankiness. You did drool a bit, but nothing like your big sis. You are still somewhat of a picky eater. You don't like eggs, cheese, or bread. Sometimes, you have eaten these things, but mostly you won't let them even touch your lips. Your stubbornness comes out when we try to make you eat something you don't want to eat. You lock your lips tightly together and squirm in your chair tightening you whole body and try to get away from us.

You have finally started talking more. I always thought Addison was way ahead of you in the talking arena, but when I went back to glance at her 18 month post she wasn't saying too much more than you. It seems as though you did wait longer though. Over the Christmas break we really got time to listen to you practice your new vocabulary. So far we have, Mom, Momma, Dad, Hi Dad, Doggy, Thank you, Touchdown, Love you (not really understandable but the same intonation), A dat (what's that), We have heard Addy a couple of times. I am sure there are a few more, but my mind is drawing a blank. You babble and say the same things over and over. I know they mean something, but we have yet to discern them.

You still love your thumb and blanket. Anytime you see a tag of any sort you grab it and your thumb immediately goes in your mouth. Your daddy and I crack up at this phenomenon. It is so funny how you just drop everything for that tag and thumb. You have used the tag on your sisters pjs you find in the morning, tags on blankets, coats or towels, really anything with a tag. You don't discriminate. One morning I found you in my bathroom with the warning tag on my blowdryer. Haha.

You love to play babies, wear bracelets, brush your hair, and put on "make up". You seem to be a girly girl so far. However, Addison got a basketball hoop for Christmas and you were the one that got really excited about it. You knew exactly what to do and started dunking as soon as it was put together. So daddy may have hope, you might be a little sporty girl. You are definitely tough enough. You don't seem interested at all with the TV, which is completely fine with me.

Generally you are still a pretty laid back girl. You tend to observe and want to copy everything Addison does. For the most part you two are completely in love with each other. There is the occasional battle over a toy, and you usually win due to your brute strength and your sister's sensitive nature. But most occasions you two are loving and play with each other quite well. This month we moved you girls into a room together this month. Every morning you pop up in your crib to check to see if Addison is in her bed. Then you grin so big.

While you are laid back, you are also a super silly, giggly girl. You laugh so easily and when you laugh it is a belly laugh. Your laugh is just so darn cute. You are very ticklish, especially on your little love handles. You love to play peek-a-boo and chase. You can make your sister laugh like no one else can. When you two play together, I have never heard a more joyful, genuinely happy laugh from Addison. Sometimes she is laughing because she is torturing you, but most of the time these laughs happen during bathtime games.

Lilah, we love you so very much. You are such a joyful, sweet addition to our family. You are such a cuddle bug that we just can't get enough. These last 18 months have been blissful and amazing. Thank you for making me a happy mommy!

Love you forever and always,

Mommy
