Last week I enrolled Addison into KINDERGARTEN! In the fall she will start her school career. She is ready and I know she will love it and do well.
Filling out the paper work for enrollment is a bit detailed. What does your child like to do? Any at home issues they should know about? As well as, the normal who are the parents, what's your address sort of thing. So I completed her paper work online and submitted it. I knew for us it would be a simpler process since she is going to the private school Tim teaches. So when I got the re-submit email from the school I was surprised. Soon after I received a call from the admissions office explaining we needed to put a space in our names and Addison's. Further saying that Tim had a space in his last name so in order to link the accounts we needed to match what the system had. She went on to say that she tried to have the IT correct it, but it was just easier to add the space in the enrollment form. I said okay, but said that we really don't have a space in our name. She responded, "Well, your husband says there really is supposed to be a space". WHAT?!??!?! I have been married to this guy for nearly 9 years and I have spelled my name wrong!!! I am sure the lady was like oh dear what have I stumbled upon. Poor thing she now has an introduction to crazy-ville. So I went on the web-site and put a space in our names thinking this doesn't even look right. But my child needs to be enrolled and if I wait she will miss the deadline, blah blah blah. Me being the quiet natured person I am quickly word vomited to the people at my work. Explaining the situation and how I don't even know how to spell my last name!!!!
When I got home that evening, Tim being Tim was like it's no big deal. Yeah there is a space technically, but when he writes it he doesn't put a space. His birth certificate and driver's license show a space.
I don't even understand this wishy washy approach to YOUR LAST NAME. I spiral into all the legal documents that "prove" it is not supposed to be a space, "mortgage, car titles, house, bank.....". He says it doesn't really matter. This boggles my mind and now I make it my weekend mission to figure out our last name. What kills me most is that he has never ever mentioned this. When you are making a wedding invitation I would have expected, "Well, honey it is technically two words". He is married to a CPA. I need black and white! So I plead we have to get to the bottom of this, because on Facebook, you know the truth keeper, your sister and nieces do not have spaces.
Finally, Saturday night he calls his father. And music to my ears, because I could never be wrong, right? You spell it as one word with two capital letters! So now I am begging him to talk to the school and get it corrected. I mean I cannot have my kids school records and Kindergarten graduation certificates spelled wrong! We are now three days into the week and this has not happened. I suppose the office will be meeting the crazy wife soon. Haha. Never a dull moment in our house.
