Lilah,
Little Lilah, my beautiful baby girl, I can't believe you are 3 today! You are such an absolute joy for our family. You are giggly and goofy, loving and stubborn, girly and beautiful. We are so lucky to have you in our family. Here are a few things about you at three years old.
One of the biggest changes over the past year is your words. You are talking up a storm! Telling us stories and being part of the family discussions. You have the cutest toddler voice, saying lots of words in toddlerese. You say W's instead of L's, so you pronounce your name Wiwah. Your dad likes to correct you, but I like to let it go. I know that this time will fly by and you will be saying everything in a big girl voice soon enough.
Lilah you are more of a reserved quiet girl, especially in big crowds. While around others you stick by mommy or daddy's side. You would rather observe then be right in the middle of it. However, if it is just the family or you have warmed up you have got a volume of super loud. I think you feel you must over power your big sister. So you produce volumes that come from your belly. Lots of power in that little belly of yours.
Speaking of your sister, she is your best friend. You two play together anytime we are at home. You mostly play house or school together. You watch Addison and try to follow her every move. You want to be just like her and be able to do whatever she does.
When we get home the first thing you do is change and usually there is another wardrobe change within the night. You are very girly. You like to wear dresses and high heels. You love to put on a princess dress. You are really into babies right now. You are always tending to one of them. Mostly dealing with their poop. You also like Minnie Mouse, hence the Minnie Mouse party. I think this stems from our Disney trip.
We have hit the terrible threes. Two was never trying for you or your sister, but I have a feeling three will be different. You have thrown some crazy fits in the last month. Thinking back I remember as a baby when you didn't want to go to sleep you would fight me and scream. I just had to hold you tight and wait it out. Now we are trying to figure out exactly how to deal with your tantrums best. Once you decide to have a tantrum you commit. You want your way and you want it NOW! Sometimes I feel like your head will spin off. You are so very stubborn. If you have made up your mind on something there is no changing it. However, distraction does work some of the time with you . If you haven't gotten to upset sometimes we can change the subject and you move on. I know this is just a stage and is only a small portion of your day, but man it is trying.
You are Daddy's girl. You want daddy to sing to you at night and put you to bed. If you are hurt the first person you cry for is daddy. Your personality is a lot like your daddy's too, both laid back. I love that you are so close to your daddy, but sometimes I miss the days you only wanted mommy.
You are still a petite little lady. You mostly wear 2T but some of your swimsuits and shorts are 18 months. You weigh 25 pounds and are 35 and 1/4 inches tall. While a little thing, you like to keep up with your sister and try everything she does.
Lilah we love you so very much. I hope you always feel loved because not only do you have Daddy, Mommy and Addison, but so many other family members and friends. Lilah you are a lucky girl surrounded by so many people. I pray that you grow up to be a loving and kind girl, using that stubbornness to overcome shortcomings and your tender heart to show compassion to others.
Love you forever and always,
Mommy
(Addison saw me typing this and wanted to give you her own letter.)
Dear Lilah
I thank you for your happy birthday and times once we both play together with friends. Once you get upset I know you are hurt. Once you are hurt I come right beside you and love you. God blesses us and loves us no matter what. The happy birthdays that he gives us are fun. Happy birthday it is time for you to turn 3 and we will say oh toodles. The trampoline is what we gave you for your birthday and the days and days you will love it. Happy birthday!
Love,
Addison
Just for fun here are your 1st and 2nd birthday letters and Addison's 3rd.
I waited until the last minute to take your birthday pictures, so we had to take them at our July 4th party. Daddy wanted to call this the swimsuit edition.
