Mommy & Me Girl Scout Campout

Addy and I had a weekend campout with her troop. My mom took Lilah and they had a ball at the pumpkin patch again. Tim got to watch the OSU homecoming game with friends. Addy and I had the best time ever. It was so amazing to spend quality time with my girl, which she just LOVED. We lucked out. This troop is going to be so much fun.

We arrived Friday evening. We unloaded the cars, made our beds, ate a picnic dinner and settled in for game night and "midnight" snacks. The Daisy girls, Sabra and Addy, were excited to sleep on the top bunk.

The next morning Addy and I were in the make breakfast group. We started out a little ahead of schedule, but we had the youngest girls in our group so things took a little longer. It was lots of fun though and the weather was amazing.

After dinner we had our opening flag ceremony, followed by a hike around the property.

These girls are the youngest in the troop and the only Daisy girls. They try hard to keep up with the older girls, but the hike wore them out.

After our hike, we had lunch (walking tacos) and activity time. Addy loved this! There were all sorts of activities set up and the girls and their moms were able to just move through them at their own pace. Addy loved making the memory book together. I loved slowing down and just doing a craft with her. It was so fun to listen to her ideas and listen her mind work. She is such a fun, sweet, and smart girl. During all of the hustle of busy life, I forget to slow down and just enjoy the moments. This was a nice reminder.

Another little hike, just me and my girl.

We cooked mostly on camp stoves, but our evening meal was by campfire. We had two fires going. I got to start one of them with flint. So cool! We made hobo dinners, s'mores, sang songs and even retired a flag. It was all just the best and so much fun!!

The next morning the girls had a monkey breakfast. They made a snack breakfast before bed and a mom got up in the morning and hid them. They had to find their breakfast. The brown paper sacks were perfect with the fall leaves.

After breakfast, the girls cleaned the cabin with a little help by the moms. However, the whole thing about girl scouts is learning to be independent. So we were really there to teach and the did the work.

After cleaning we had our final time at inspiration point, where the girls did skits for us.

Right before jumping in our cars we had a whistle blow out. If the girls all practice proper whistle etiquette throughout the trip they get to blow their whistles for a whole minute at the very end.
